University of Texas PressThe coronavirus pandemic has prompted Go-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine to postpone some of the promotional tour dates she scheduled for her new autobiography, All I Ever Wanted: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Memoir, which will be released on March 31.
The postponed events span from an April 2 Q&A session with X‘s John Doe in Austin, Texas, through a May 8 appearance at the Mom 2.0 Conference in Los Angeles.
Kathy also was slated to appear at the Woodstock Bookfest in Woodstock, New York, on March 28, but the festival has been canceled.
The confirmed events that remain on Valentine’s schedule run from a May 11 event in Nashville through a May 28 appearance in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Most of the events will feature Kathy chatting with a guest interviewer. For example, the Somerville event will feature a conversation with Tanya Donelly of Belly and Throwing Muses.
In All I Ever Wanted, Valentine shares her life story, including how she made her way from her home state in Texas to Los Angeles, where she joined what became one of the most successful all-female rock bands of all time. The 61-year-old rocker’s book also recounts how The Go-Go’s enjoyed a fast rise to stardom, which offered a roller-coaster ride of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, only to fall apart after just a few years.
In addition, Valentine writes about her experiences meeting such celebrities as The Police, Rod Stewart, John Belushi and Rob Lowe, among many others.
As previously reported, Valentine also has recorded a soundtrack album featuring new original songs inspired by each chapter of her book. It will be available with the audio version of the book, due out April 7, and as a separate digital release.
