Credit: dhlovelifeWith so many of us hunkering down at home because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Neil Young has announced that he’ll treat fans to a streaming performance “from [his] fireplace,” which he says will be filmed by his wife, actress Daryl Hannah.
“It will be a down-home production, a few songs, a little time together,” Young reveals in a post on his Neil Young Archives website.
Young says details about the performance will appear in the Times-Contrarian, his official website’s news page, and on the schedule of Hearse Theater, his site’s streaming video section.
It’s not clear if the performance will be available exclusively to Neil Young Archives subscribers, although he suggests that it will be viewable via social media outlets “except Facebook.”
Young’s description of upcoming his streaming performance sounds similar to the one he did as part of Monday night’s online rally for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, which can be viewed on YouTube. Neil played a version of his classic song “Heart of Gold” while sitting in front of his fireplace.
In other news, Young reveals that he’s finished writing a science-fiction novel titled Canary, which he started “about four years back.”
“I have been on this since 2016 and just handed it in to my agent in NYC,” Neil reports in a post on his website. “A sci-fi novel that I hope someone enjoys reading as much as I did writing, Canary has been a labor of love.”
Young, who says he hopes the book comes out near the end of 2020, adds, “My dad wrote many novels and I wanted to do one for him…So Daddy if you’re bored up there, check this out!”
Young’s father, Scott Young, who died in 2005, wrote more than 45 books in his career.
