Two counties in North Central Arkansas now have confirmed cases of coronavirus. Officials in Boone County are reporting a confirmed case, while the Arkansas Department of Health says at least one person has tested positive in Searcy County.

Harrison Mayor Jerry Jackson and Boone County Judge Robert Hathaway said in a joint statement Thursday night they have been notified a person from Harrison has tested positive for COVID-19. The two leaders say they encourage residents to remain calm and practice social distancing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control, Arkansas Department of Health and local healthcare experts.

No information is known about the confirmed case in Searcy County.  Information from the ADH shows Searcy is among the 20 counties in the state with confirmed cases.
