Credit: Myriam SantosJohn Fogerty stars in the latest installment of Rolling Stone‘s recently launched In My Room video series, which features well-known musicians performing songs at their homes as they shelter in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The founding Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman begins his segment by sending out a greeting from outside of his house to fans who also are dealing with the health crisis.
“These are certainly different times that we’re living through,” the 74-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer says. “Wash your hands. Stay safe, everybody. Nobody really knows how long this is gonna last, but the better we do at taking the advice of medical people, the shorter it will be, I’m sure.”
He adds, “I’m sure we’re all going stir crazy after 10 days or so of doing this, and I thought I’d get outside and get some fresh air, and maybe sing a couple of songs.”
Fogerty, strumming an acoustic guitar, proceeds to play a version of CCR’s top-10 1971 hit “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.” The setting then changes to John’s home studio, where he performs a solo acoustic rendition of the band’s 1969 #2 smash “Bad Moon Rising.” For his third and final tune, Fogerty plays piano in his living room as he delivers a heartfelt take on the gospel-flavored 1970 Creedence ballad “Long as I Can See the Light.”
The coronavirus crisis has led Fogerty to cancel all of his spring U.S. concerts, but his schedule still includes a series of European shows in June, a summer run of stateside performances and a Las Vegas residency in November.
The other artists who have shot In My Room sessions are Brian Wilson and Angelique Kidjo.
