Credit: dhlovelifeNeil Young has posted the second installment of his recently announced “Fireside Sessions” performances in the “Hearse Theater” section of his Neil Young Archives website.
The video features capture Young playing solo acoustic renditions of various songs at his Colorado residence, shot by his wife, actress Daryl Hannah.
The new video, which runs over 26 minutes, begins with Young performing a version of Canadian folk singer/songwriter Ian Tyson‘s “Four Strong Winds” on a snowy day outside his house.
When then hear Neil singing a snippet of the 1960 Rosie and the Originals tune “Angel Baby” along with footage of Hannah making a snow angel.
The action moves indoors, as Young performs his 1970 ballad “Birds” on piano. After a short break during which Neil washes his hands in a sink while joking, “This is a soap opera,” and a mock commercial for water runs, he plays the 1974 gem “On the Beach” on guitar in front of his fireplace.
Young follows with a couple more early-1970s rarity, “Homefires” and “Words (Between the Lines of Age),” then finishes up with the epic 1990 tune “Love and Only Love.” As the video comes to a close, we see a sign with the name of Neil’s old band Buffalo Springfield next to the fireplace. A message from Young and Hannah then appears on screen that reads, “All Together, Love N & D,” and Neil says, “Take care, everyone.”
Elsewhere on the Neil Young Archives website, Young has premiered a performance from his recently reported archival concert film and album, Young Shakespeare, recorded in January 1971 at the American Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, Connecticut. The clip features grainy footage of Neil singing his 1970 tune “Tell Me Why.” According to the website, Young Shakespeare currently is scheduled for a November 27 release.
