Credit: Scott Robert RitchieRingo Starr and his All Starr Band were supposed to launch a new North American tour with a May 29-30 engagement in Rama, Canada, but guess what, the trek has been postponed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
So far, all of the former Beatles drummer’s 2020 shows have been moved to June of next year, except for the Rama concerts, which have yet to be rescheduled.
“This is very difficult for me,” Ringo says, “in 30 years I think I’ve only missed 2 or 3 gigs never mind a whole tour. But this is how things are for all of us now, I have to stay in just like you have to stay in, and we all know it’s the peace and loving thing we do for each other.”
Starr, who will turn 80 on July 7 of this year, adds, “My fans know I love them, and I love to play for them and I can’t wait to see you all as soon as possible. In the meantime stay safe. Peace and Love to you all.”
The current lineup of Ringo’s All Starr Band features ex-Santana and Journey singer/keyboardist Gregg Rolie, Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, Men at Work frontman Colin Hay and former Average White Band guitarist/bassist Hamish Stuart, as well as sax player/percussionist Warren Ham and drummer Gregg Bissonette.
Ringo released his latest studio album, What’s My Name, this past October. It features features contributions Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, Lukather and many others.
