MHPS announce change to student-feeding program

The Mountain Home Public School District has announced a change in its student-feeding program schedule while children are out of school due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning Thursday, all families who have called this week to receive meals – for children in the household age 18 and under – will receive a delivery of five days worth of breakfasts and lunches, no later than 9 a.m. Families may also elect to pick up the five-day bags of children’s meals from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday morning at Hackler Intermediate School’s third grade drop-off.Mountain Home Superintendent Dr. Jake Long on the changes.

Long adds that changing to meet guidelines issued by the Arkansas Department of Health will help improve the safety of all those involved.

The delivery process will continue to be conducted in the same fashion on Tuesday and Wednesday, as it is currently structured.

The Thursday meal procedure will continue for the remaining weeks the district is out of school. If a parents or guardians have already called to schedule meal delivery, they are on the list and will not need to call again, unless they want to discontinue delivery. To schedule meals, call the school at 870-425-1240.

There has been a strong turnout for the meals, Long says.

This Thursday, in addition to the five-day meal bags, the district deliver the monthly box of food from the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.
