A Mountain Home man, with 16 felony arrests in two states, in behind bars again following a pursuit by Mountain Home Police late Friday night. Joshua James Langston faces four charges, two of them felonies, for his latest run in with the law.
According to the incident report from the Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD), an officer was on patrol on the bypass when he saw a person getting into a car at a store resembling Langston who he knew had warrants. The officer followed the vehicle and ran the license and discovered the vehicle did not have valid insurance. At that point, two MHPD officers activated their emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop.
Langston turned onto Rossi road, continued towards Old Arkana Road and then accelerated as he began to flee. As he continued to try to elude officers, a deer ran into the roadway and into the path of Langston’s vehicle. The vehicle hit the deer, left the roadway, struck several large rocks and came to a stop.
Two female passengers exited the vehicle and were taken into custody. Langston was then taken into custody and two plastic baggies containing a white crystalline substance were found in the vehicle. Langston was taken to Baxter Health to have an injury from the vehicle crash checked and then taken to the Baxter County Detention Center. He told officers the drugs in the car, which tested positive for methamphetamine, were his and the females were only in the vehicle because they needed a ride.
Langston faces felony charges of fleeing in a vehicle and possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver. Misdemeanor charges include reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. He also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender. His bond is set at $25,000.
WARRANTS
Langston had two warrants for his arrest. One was out of Baxter County for failure to appear from an arrest last August. He was arrested following a pursuit by an Arkansas State Police trooper for having a tail light out. Langston initially pulled over, but when the trooper returned to his car, Langston took off.
He failed to show for his court date for that arrest and a warrant was issued for his arrest March 9.
He also had a warrant from the Arkansas Post Prison Transfer Board for violating his parole.
MISSOURI ARRESTS
Langston’s life of crime started in Missouri in 2003 when he was arrested for stealing vehicles in Howell and Oregon counties. He was given probation in those cases, but a 2004 arrest in Izard County for possession of firearms by certain persons revoked his probation and he was sentenced to three years in the Missouri Department of Correction.
ARKANSAS ARRESTS
Langston has 13 other previous arrests in Arkansas that started with the one in Izard County. He also has seven arrests in Baxter County, three in Fulton County, and one each in Marion and Independence counties.
