An additional sex-related charge was filed against a Marion County jail inmate last week in Sharp County.

In January, 36-year-old Robert Hayes Dunbar Jr. was arrested and charged with one felony count of computer child pornography. Online court documents identified Dunbar as a resident of Eureka Springs.

According to the original affidavit, the arrest and charge stemmed from a Mountain Home school resource officer (SRO) contacting a Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigator in late September last year in reference to a complaint she received from a female student under the age of 15.

The student told the SRO she had received pictures of a male’s genitalia through three social media platforms. The suspect, Dunbar, is reportedly the father of the student’s friend.

In December, the investigator was advised the student had allegedly received additional sexually-explicit messages from Dunbar.

The latest affidavit identifies Dunbar as a resident of Cherokee Village. It notes Dunbar was arrested at his Sharp County home on Jan. 10 on a felony warrant from Marion County for computer child pornography, as well as misdemeanor warrants from Benton and Carroll counties.

At the time of his arrest, Dunbar was allegedly in possession of his cellphone, which was seized as evidence related to the Marion County investigation.

A search warrant was obtained on Jan. 21. During the search warrant execution, officers reportedly discovered the phone contained more than 70 images leading to a felony charge of distributing, possessing, or viewing of matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

Online court records indicate Dunbar entered a not guilty plea to the Marion County charge before Circuit Judge Gordon Webb on Jan. 15. At that time, the court took up the issue of a bond reduction. However, the bond amount remains at $25,000.
