A Stone County man, 46-year-old Eric A. Goodman of Mountain View, is in custody, after he allegedly threatened two family members with a 20 gauge shotgun and a knife.

According to the probable cause affidavit released Monday, Stone County deputies responded to an active domestic violence case along Halpin Road early last Friday morning shortly after midnight.

They were responding to a call from a juvenile advising her father, later identified as Goodman, was threatening her mother with the two weapons. Dispatch could hear the caller and her mother saying the father was “going to kill them all.”

As Goodman allegedly was assaulting his wife, his daughter could be heard on the call saying, “Let her go. Dad stop. Put that away.” Then, repeatedly the daughter said, “Stop. Stop. Stop.”

Upon arrival, the officers found Goodman reportedly still aggressive toward the people in the house, but were able to take him into custody.

During their investigation, they noted blood on the neck and face of Goodman’s wife. The blood was determined to be from Goodman. During the altercation, the Stone County man allegedly pulled a large wooden handled knife on the two family members. The daughter reportedly took the knife from her father while on the phone with dispatch. The action resulted in Goodman being cut on the hand.

The two family members allege Goodman choked his wife and struck her. They reported having tried to leave numerous times before calling 911, with Goodman taking the phone from them and walking them across the room at knifepoint.

The Mountain View man has been charged with felony counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, false imprisonment and aggravated assault on a family or household member. His bond was set at $50,000.
