Marion County offices to reopen on limited basis

Several Marion County offices will reopen to the public on a limited basis starting Monday. Mandatory procedures will be in place to comply with COVID-19 guidelines with social distancing of 6 feet required.

The Marion County Courthouse and Annex will be open weekdays from 8 to 4:30. Masks are optional, but may be required by some offices. Two visitors will be allowed in each courthouse office at one time, and the number of citizens in the annex offices will be on an office-by-office basis. Circuit judges, the probate and juvenile divisions and the Marion County District Court will have their own procedures for entering courtrooms will face-to-face court resumes May 18.

Marion County Veteran’s Services will be open to veterans or their families by appointment only. Masks are optional.

The lobby of Marion County Juvenile Services will remain locked until approximately the first week of June. Masks are recommended. Due to limited space in the offices, clients will be seen by appointment only and will be asked to remain in their vehicles until they’re notified to enter the agency.

The Marion County Library will be open from 9 to 5. Masks are required, and patrons’ temperatures will be recorded upon entry. Visitors will sign their names on a roster after answering a COVID-19 questionnaire. Five visitors will be allowed in the library at one time and will be allotted 10 minutes. One computer will be available for justified purposes only.

The Marion County Transfer Station will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 to 4. The station will be closed on Wednesday, and Saturday services are not available until further notice.

The public is asked to follow precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Visitors will not be allowed, if they have signs of a respiratory infection, including a fever, cough or sore throat. All healthy visitors should clean their hands, after they arrive and before they leave. Anyone who coughs or sneeze should use a tissue or a sleeve, and hands should be cleaned afterward.
