Due to concerns from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, one local community will not be sending its youth on the fields this summer. The Salem Summer Ball Association announced on Facebook it will not participate in this year’s baseball and softball activities.
Salem takes part in the Tri-County League with Norfork, Viola, Mammoth Spring, Calico Rock, Izard County, Melbourne and Highland. The association’s representatives say they are concerned about the well-being of the athletes and the inability to enforce the guidelines during games and practices.
The Salem Summer Ball Association will later announce a date for refunds to be received. Forms and money can be held over until next year on a parent or guardian request.
