Norris graduated from Mountain Home in 2012. During his time as a Bomber, he was crowned the individual cross country state champion and helped lead Mountain Home to the team title in 2011. In track, he was two-time state champion in the 3,200-meter run and took the 1,600-meter run title in 2012. He captured three All-State selections in cross country and two in track.

Norris says the coaches he had during his time at Mountain Home had a big influence on his success.

Norris continued his athletic career at Arkansas State University. He holds the Red Wolves’ school record for the top finish in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs, and he won the Sun Belt Conference title in the 10,000-meter run during his senior year in 2016.

While in Jonesboro, Norris earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in exercise science with an emphasis in biomechanics, but he says he has always been interested in becoming a coach.
