KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Parts of western Missouri saw minor damage from two weak tornadoes and a rare phenomenon of two storms moving in opposite directions that collided around Kansas City. The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado early Thursday morning with peak winds of 80 mph that cut an almost 2-mile path near Archie, south of Kansas City. Another tornado hit Wednesday night east of Kansas City with top winds of 85 mph. It stayed on the ground for 6 miles, from Blue Springs Lake to near Lake Lotawana. The weather service says trees and power lines in and around Kansas City were knocked down when a west-moving storm collided with an east-moving storm around 2 a.m. Thursday.
