An area man was killed early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle accident in Stone County. Fifty-three-year-old Bob Herod of Mountain View was pronounced dead, and his passenger, 53-year-old Karen Merriman of Marked Tree, was injured.
According to the Arkansas State Police, Herod and Merriman were traveling on Arkansas Highway 14 west of Mountain View. The pickup truck they were in reportedly crossed the centerline, went into a ditch, struck a power pole and overturned.
Merriman was transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock following the 12:45 a.m. accident.
