Two people were reportedly injured in a two-vehicle collision shortly after noon Thursday on the Sheid-Hopper Bypass, west of its intersection with Buzzard Roost Road. While one of the two vehicles caught fire after the collision and was completely destroyed, its driver was uninjured.

Mountain Home Fire Department Assistant Chief Kris Quick says firemen responded to a call at 12:17 to find one of the two vehicles had caught fire, with its driver outside the SUV. The driver of the SUV was reportedly alerted to the blaze by a bystander, allowing her to escape from the burning vehicle without injury.

Quick says the SUV was about 200 yards from the second vehicle that was off the roadway after the crash. The second vehicle’s driver and a passenger were transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
