Calico Rock is one of the three newest communities across the state to be added to the Arkansas Downtown Network (ADN) program. Camden and Lonoke are also new ADN members. The Arkansas Downtown Network (ADN) is a program working to serve a broader base of communities across the state focused on revitalizing their historic commercial core. The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHPP) created the program to offer resources and education to communities who are not able to commit to the level of certified Main Street towns. The program is an effort to assist these communities to both revitalize the built environment and build the capacity to become a certified Main Street community.

Calico Rock is the only community in North Central Arkansas in the ADN program.Scott Kaufman, director of AHPP, says, “Downtown Network Communities are stepping stones to becoming designated Main Street programs. These programs play an important role in the revitalization of historic downtowns.”
Since 1984, Main Street Arkansas has been a leading advocate for downtown revitalization providing resources, education and professional assistance to spark life into Arkansas’ traditional commercial areas. The Main Street Arkansas team works closely with the 22 local Main Street programs and 18 Downtown Network Communities across the state.
Main Street focuses on a four-point approach as laid out by Main Street America, which centers on economic vitality, design, promotion and organization.
In the latest round of advancements, Main Street Paris moved up from Network status to designated Main Street this spring after completing the annual Main Street University course.
