Norfork slates commencement ceremony for Friday evening

Norfork Public Schools have announced they will conduct the 2020 commencement ceremony on Friday evening at 6:30 on the high school baseball field.

High School Principal Bobby Hulse says conducting a proper graduation ceremony was paramount for the district.

The ceremony will be conducted within the guidelines set forth by the Arkansas Department of Health, which recently approved Norfork’s plans for the graduation. Hulse discusses the protocols that must be followed, including mandatory wearing of masks.

Hulse says to his knowledge, the school has never conducted an outdoor graduation ceremony. Preparations are already underway for something special, and the Norfork principal says he hopes the community turns out in force to send the Class of 2020 into the world.

The general public is asked to also bring lawn chairs for seating. School officials will direct attendees to a designated area, and families will be allowed to sit together, with proper social distancing between groups.
