Two people were killed in a crash Monday afternoon in Douglas County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened when the driver attempted to pass two vehicles, the car ran off the left side of the roadway, became airborne and struck a tree.
The victims, both from Ava, have been identified as the driver, 25-year-old Owen Dobbs, and his passenger, 34-year-old Rebecca Brandon. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
The accident happened 5 miles north of Ava on Missouri Route 5 at 1:30.
