
With the general election for 2020 just over three months away, the filing period for candidates seeking city positions will begin this week. The period to file for municipal positions opens Wednesday at noon and continues until Wednesday, Aug. 5, at noon.The filings will primarily be made up individuals running for city council or recorder/treasurer. Possible candidates will need to bring their petitions to the courthouse of the county in which they reside, and Baxter County Clerk Canda Reese says the required number of signatures will depend on the city for which they are filing.

There is no fee to file for municipal positions. Election Day is scheduled for Nov. 3.

Two positions on the Mountain Home City Council will be open. Ward 3, Position 2 Council Member Don Webb and Ward 4, Position 2 Council Member Eva Frame have both announced they will not file for reelection.
