
Two local airports are among those sharing in more than $273 million in airport safety and infrastructure grants through the Federal Aviation Administration. The grant awards were announced Tuesday by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao.
The list of funded projects includes $181,995 to the Baxter County Airport for reconstruction of perimeter fencing.
Also on the list was the Calico Rock-Izard County Airport set to receive $161,111 in funding to install miscellaneous NAVAIDS and reconstruct runway and taxiway lighting.
Secretary Chao says, “This $273 million federal investment in our nation’s airports will strengthen safety, improve travel, generate jobs, and benefit local communities.”
