The Mountain Home Fire Department responded late Thursday afternoon to a fire at Eaton Corporation. No injuries were reported at the company’s rubber plant located on the former Arkansas Highway 201 Spur.
According to a department spokesperson, the fire started on a 600-to-800-pound mound of raw rubber on a conveyor belt. Fire personnel arrived to the sight of heavy smoke from the structure. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are unknown.
Eighteen personnel were on the scene for nearly an hour-and-a-half with two engines, a tower truck and a ladder truck.
