When students return to class in Ozark County for the start of the new school year, most of them will not have to buy school supplies. Each school in the county is providing most of the supplies to students free of charge, according to the Ozark County Times.
Lutie is the first school in the county to start, with classes beginning Tuesday. The Lutie district is providing school supplies to each elementary student, including nap mats. The supplies will be given to the students the first day of school. Anyone who would like to make a donation may call the school at 417-273-4150.
At Gainesville, the district has partnered with the Ozark County Health Department and several area churches to provide school supplies for every student. Parents will need to provide backpacks, water bottles and nap pads. Anyone with questions or who would like to make a monetary donation, may call the school at 417-679-4200.
The Bakersfield School District is providing all school supplies except backpacks and nap mats. The supplies will be sanitized before being distributed to students the first day of school. The supplies were purchased with funds from the school, along with donations. Anyone who would like to donate or who has questions may call the school at 417-284-7333.
At Dora, pre-K through eighth grade will have all of their school supplies provided. High school students will be given paper, pens and pencils. The supplies are provided by the non-profit group Back to Basics. For more information, call the Dora school at 417-261-2346.
The Thornfield School District is providing all student school supplies. Students will need to buy their own backpack, gym shoes and water bottle. The number at Thornfield for those with questions is 417-265-3212.
At the Mark Twain school, students will have their school supplies waiting for them the first day of school. The First Baptist Church in Forsyth donated backpacks filled with the supplies for each student. Students will need to provide their own water bottle.
