With the high school football season drawing nearer, schools around the state are preparing with practices being conducted in a different manner due to the pandemic. Yellville-Summit is among the local schools whose programs have taken to the practice field ever since the all-clear signal from the Arkansas Activities Association and the Arkansas Department of Health was given.
Lucas Morris is preparing for his fourth season at the helm of the Panthers, and so far, he is pleased with what he’s seeing this summer.
During practice time, teams have been limited to what they can do. Morris says the biggest things Yellville-Summit have been able to accomplish is getting the players in their helmets and getting them acclimated to the heat.
So far, Yellville-Summit has combined junior high and senior high practices, with 50 to 60 athletes participating. Morris says he is encouraged by those numbers.
Practice continues for Yellville-Summit leading up to a preseason tuneup for the high school team next week. The Panthers will take part in a benefit jamboree Aug. 20 at Mountain View.
