NEWPORT (AP) – Authorities in northeastern Arkansas are in a third day of searching for a woman who disappeared after going for a run, Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas said Friday.The search by local, state and federal authorities is just north of Newport for Sydney Sutherland, 25.
Sutherland is last known to have been seen by a delivery driver Wednesday afternoon jogging on State Highway 18 between Newport and the town of Grubbs. Her cell phone was found Thursday less than a half mile from her home.
Lucas said helicopters and dogs, along with an estimated 150 volunteers, are searching in the area. He said investigators are following leads into Sutherland’s disappearance, but declined to elaborate.
