Two occupants of one vehicle were injured, and the driver of a second one fled the scene after the two crashed Wednesday evening in Baxter County. Thirty-one-year-old Kayla Foster of Mountain View was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center, 37-year-old Kimberly Stephens of Wideman was treated for her injuries at the scene, and 39-year-old Billy Jo Powell of Calico Rock reportedly left the scene on foot.
According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Powell and his passenger, 32-year-old April McDole of Calico Rock, were traveling at a high rate of speed on Hopewell Hollow Road. Powell reportedly took a curve too wide, and an oncoming vehicle, driven by Stephens, did not have enough time to move out of his path. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Powell was not at the crash scene when emergency personnel arrived. Stephens and her passenger, Foster, suffered what were described as suspected minor injuries. McDole was not injured.
Both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene following the 7:10 p.m. accident.
