MHPD welcomes Rocky as new K9

A new four-legged officer has been welcomed as the newest member of the Mountain Home Police Department. Rocky, a black Labrador retriever is the new K9 following the retirement of Bomber, and his handler will be Hackler Intermediate School Resource Officer Danielle Campfield.

Rocky was adopted from a kennel in central Arkansas. Mountain Home Assistant Police Chief Eddie Griffin says the funds to purchase him came from the office of 14th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney David Ethredge.

Rocky’s training is mainly to locate drugs, and he is not expected to be used for aggressive situations. Griffin says he’ll be more than just a drug dog at Hackler.

The purchase price for Rocky was $8,950.
