MH boys win, girls finish 2nd at Carthage Invitational

The Mountain Home High School cross country teams had a successful day in Missouri on Thursday, as they took part in the Carthage Invitational.

The Bomber boys ended up with the victory, as they finished 27 points ahead of Webb City, and Mountain Home had the top two individual runners in the meet. Whit Lawrence won the race in a time of 16:40.3, and teammate Andrew Westphal was second at 16:53.6. Also for the Bombers, Ky Bickford was fifth, and Hendrix Hughes ended up seventh.

Mountain Home took second place in the girls’ team standings as Webb City got the win, but the Lady Bombers also had the top two runners in the race. Marcie Cudworth took the victory in a time of 20:39.2, and Rylee Patterson was second at 21:13.1.

Mountain Home also came away with the Carl Lewton Award for the overall best combined team (boys and girls). Click here for full results.

Mountain Home also had junior high and middle school runners in Missouri as they competed in the Steve Waggoner Invitational at Willow Springs.

Mountain Home had three freshmen boys finish in the top 10 of the high school junior varsity race. Max Hough led the Junior Bombers with a third-place finish at 9:39.29, William Hill was fifth, and Ryan Amick finished eighth.

Mountain Home’s middle school girls ended up third, as Howell Valley won the meet, and Thayer took second. Jayla Yonker and Bailey Ritenburg led Mountain Home, as they were fifth and sixth respectively.

The Mountain Home middle school boys were fourth in the team standings. Howell Valley was crowned the winner, Van Buren, Missouri, finished second, and West Plains ended up third. Jackson Free was Mountain Home’s top runner with a third-place finish.
