The front lawn of the Casey House in Mountain Home will serve as the venue for the regular September meeting of the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society Tuesday at 6 p.m. Baxter County Fair Association President Glenn Priebe will be the guest speaker, as he presents the topic “The Baxter County Fair Through the Years.”
Priebe is the fair board’s longest-serving member, having joined in 1981. He has spent most of that time as the president and has seen history, continued development and many unusual events. This year’s fair ended up being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Casey House is located at the corner of Wade Street and Arena Drive, near the fairgrounds. The historical society is asking attendees to bring lawn chairs for seating and place them at a “social distance.” Attendees are also being asked to bring masks and wear them, if they can’t socially distance. Bottled water and individually-packaged refreshments will be available.
The Casey House will be open for touring before and after the meeting. In the case of inclement weather, the meeting will move inside the fairgrounds building.
