My Kim Parnell, associate director of the Calico Rock Community Foundation and manager of The Marketplace, has been elected to the board of directors of the Arkansas Museums Association (AMA). Parnell is a lifelong resident of Calico Rock, where she serves in an elected position on the city council.

Professionally, Parnell works in sales and development to support the Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center. Her involvement with AMA began three years ago.

As an elected member of the AMA board, Parnell will represent museums in the Northeast region of the state, hold district meetings, meet with and assist constituent museums and advocate for museums with state and national leaders. As a board member, she will assist in planning programs and services of the Arkansas Museums Association, whose membership includes large museums like the Arkansas State University Museum and small museums like the Museum of Imagination in Brockwell.

“I am very honored to be elected by my peers to serve as their district representative to the board. I love museums and have made it my mission to promote our local museum, community, and state,” Parnell says.
