PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) – A police officer was fatally shot Monday at a hotel in Arkansas, authorities said.
Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler did not release the name of the Pine Bluff police officer who was killed in the shooting or provide other details.
Local television stations reported that two officers were shot at an Econo Lodge in Pine Bluff. The ATF in New Orleans tweeted earlier on Monday they were responding to the shooting of two Pine Bluff police officers and that one was taken to the hospital. Sadler did not confirm that a second officer had been shot.
A spokesman for Pine Bluff police did not respond to messages seeking comment.
The Little Rock office of the FBI said on Twitter that it was assisting Pine Bluff Police and State Police in the investigation.
