MH student wins FFA overall grand championship at state fair

The Mountain Home FFA was able to shine during the Arkansas State Fair Livestock Show in Little Rock, but one student stood out in particular. Junior Skylar Robinson won the overall grand championship in the market steer competition, and FFA sponsor Josh Baker says that wasn’t his only accomplishment.

Mountain Home had a total of 25 students competing at the state fair for a 10-day stretch. Baker says there were other highlights from the fair, including another grand champion.

This year’s state fair was anything but usual. The carnival and other events had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but for a time, it wasn’t known if the livestock show would be held as scheduled. Baker says even with the uncertainty, the students continued to put in the preparation.

The Arkansas State Fair Livestock Show began Oct. 15 and continued through last Saturday.
