Arvest Foundation awards The Salvation Army of Mountain Home $5,000 grant
MOUNTAIN HOME – The Salvation Army of Mountain Home’s Rescue Christmas campaign has received a boost in the form of a $5,000 grant from the Arvest Foundation.
The gift was announced recently at the Salvation Army facility, where David McBee, executive vice president and sales manager for Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas, presented a check to The Salvation Army’s Major John Robbins. Also representing Arvest were Mike Willard, president and CEO for Arvest in North Central Arkansas, and Sally Gilbert, community president for Arvest in Mountain Home. Also on hand were The Salvation Army’s Odessa Higley and Major Michelle Robbins, advisory board president Sheila Wingard and advisory board member Mike Heslep.
The funds will help The Salvation Army assist local families in need this holiday season with food, shelter, utility bill payments and gifts for its Angel Tree program.
“We feel blessed to receive these funds from the Arvest Foundation and appreciate the support it has provided at a time when it is needed by so many,” Robbins says. “This will make a big difference in our Rescue Christmas campaign.”
“We are pleased to present this donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to support The Salvation Army’s much-needed efforts here in the Mountain Home area,” Willard says. “We trust this grant demonstrates the foundation’s ongoing commitment to make Mountain Home, and all the communities we serve, better places to live, work and play.”
“What is extra special about this gift is that over 40 years ago, my father actually helped start the local chapter of the Salvation Army in Mountain Home,” McBee says. “So, on top of the excitement of being able to present on behalf of the Arvest Foundation, I am equally grateful for all that the Salvation Army has meant to helping people in our community through the years.”
