
LITTLE ROCK (AP) – Arkansas on Monday reached a new high for COVID-19 hospitalizations as the state’s coronavirus cases grew by nearly 600.
The Department of Health reported the state’s COVID-19 hospitalizations rose by 33 to 688. The state’s previous high for hospitalizations was 676.
The state’s probable and confirmed virus cases increased by 584 to 113,641. Its COVID-19 deaths increased by 27 to 1,985.
Arkansas ranks 19th in the country for new cases per capita, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
Twenty-eight percent of the state’s 9,144 hospital beds and nearly 11% of its 1,082 intensive care unit beds are available, according to the Department of Health. There are 260 COVID-19 patients in ICUs around the state.
