MH meets Parkview in Little Rock to end regular season

High school football makes up much of the Friday schedule, as the regular season comes to an end in Arkansas, and Mountain Home will go back on the road. The Bombers will be in Little Rock, as they meet Parkview.

Mountain Home is 5-4 on the season and 3-3 in the 6A-West. The Bombers defeated Russellville last week for their second straight win and third in four games. Parkview is ranked 10th overall and third in Class 6A by the Arkansas Sports Media. The Patriots are 6-1 and 3-1, as they come off a shutout win over Siloam Springs.

Mountain Home will be going to the postseason next week, but the location and opponent could be decided in this matchup. Bombers’ head coach Steve Ary says the team is going to need a complete game to be successful against Parkview.

Kickoff at War Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins at 5:30 with Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday.

The 6A-West schedule includes a matchup between two teams in the Arkansas Sports Media Top 10, as fourth-ranked Greenwood travels to Pearcy to face No. 7 Lake Hamilton. Elsewhere, Russellville hosts Siloam Springs, and Benton makes the trip to Van Buren.

Yellville-Summit will look to wrap up the regular season with its second straight win. The Panthers will go on the road, as they take on Mountainburg.

Both teams are 2-4 in the 2A-4. Yellville-Summit’s overall record is 3-6. The Panthers went to Coal Hill last Friday and destroyed Johnson County Westside. Mountainburg is 2-5 on the year. The Dragons were edged out by Quitman a week ago.

Kickoff at Dragon Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

Also in the 2A-4, Hector entertains Quitman, Conway Christian is home against Bigelow, and Westside heads to Magazine.

Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Melbourne plays at Mountain View, and Harrison will be at Pea Ridge.

There are two other games matching up teams in the Arkansas Sports Media Top 10. Top-ranked Bryant hosts No. 6 Conway, and No. 3 North Little Rock entertains ninth-ranked Cabot.

District play continues in Missouri, as the semifinal round will be held this week.

After having a first-round bye, West Plains will have home field advantage for its first game in the Class 4, District 5 playoffs. The top-seeded Zizzers will be paired with McDonald County.

The Class 2, District 3 playoffs will continue with the the semifinals. Forsyth is home against Fair Grove, and Mountain View-Liberty travels to top-seeded Springfield Catholic.

Branson will go on the road for the semifinals of the Class 5, District 6 Playoffs. The Pirates will make the trip to top-seeded Carthage.

Ava’s opening game in the Class 3, District 5 playoffs will be this week after a first-round bye. The Bears will host Mountain Grove.

Thayer will continue with home field advantage as the top-seeded team in the Class 1, District 1 playoffs. The Bobcats will entertain Caruthersville.
