Basketball makes up the local Thursday sports schedule, as the Mountain Home High School boys will have a preseason tune-up. The Bombers will be on the road for a benefit game with Jacksonville. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Also on the high school level, Yellville-Summit travels to Mount Judea, Timbo makes the trip to Center Ridge to meet Nemo Vista, Lead Hill hosts Alpena, and Valley Springs heads to Jasper.

The season will get underway for two of Mountain Home’s junior high boys’ teams, as they welcome Cave City to the Hangar. Last year, the freshmen team finished the season with a record of 7-17 and a trip to the quarterfinals of the Northeast Arkansas District Tournament. Junior Bombers’ head coach Cody Wilmath says this year’s squad will have the most depth of any freshmen team he’s had in his four years at Mountain Home.
