
Basketball makes up much of the local Thursday sports schedule, as both of the Mountain Home High School teams will be in action. The road trip will include the season opener for the Lady Bombers, as they join their male counterparts at Fayetteville.
Mountain Home’s girls are coming off a season in which they finished 23-7. The 2020 campaign marked the second consecutive year in which they were tied for third in the 5A-East and ended up advancing to the Class 5A state semifinals.
This will be the second game of the season for the Fayetteville girls. The Lady Bulldogs are 0-1 after getting edged out by Parkview Tuesday in Little Rock.
Mountain Home’s boys come into the game with a mark of 0-1. The Bombers began the season Tuesday night by falling to Greene County Tech at Paragould. Fayetteville is also 0-1. The Purple Dogs lost to Parkview two nights ago.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 4:30 at Bulldog Arena. The varsity contests will get underway around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Also on the high school level, Izard County travels to Imboden to meet Sloan-Hendrix, Mammoth Spring hosts Jonesboro Westside for two boys’ games, Melbourne makes the trip to Pangburn, and Mountain View heads to Batesville.
Four of Mountain Home’s junior high squads will be on the road, as they go up against Harrison. The eighth grade girls’ game tips off at 4:30 followed by the eighth grade boys and both freshmen contests.
In other junior high basketball, Yellville-Summit travels to Valley Springs, and Marshall makes the trip to Bergman.
