The Mountain Home School Board met Thursday night, handling several items of business, including the approval of a new playground for Hackler Intermediate School and the retirement of long-time district employee and Kindergarten Principal Janet Wood.
Superintendent Dr. Jake Long discusses the plan for the playground project.
The board also approved five early release days to provide teachers time to prepare for virtual instruction, according to Dr. Long.
After hearing reports on academics, financials, enrollment and facility updates, the board approved budget amendments and the retirement of Wood at the end of the contract year. Wood has served in many positions throughout the school district over the last 40 years, including athletic director and principal. The board will begin taking applications for kindergarten principal for the ’21-’22 school year.
