One of the Twin Lakes Area’s biggest sporting events is underway. The White River Marathon for Kenya began Saturday on the campus of the Cotter School District.
The racing began at 7 a.m. with the marathon and half marathon. The 5k race started a half hour later.
The White River Marathon has so far raised thousands of dollars for the village of Katito, Kenya, providing potable water wells, clothing and other necessities by working in conjunction with World Vision. The race also serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
