Eagle Scout Zane Darracq from Boy Scout Troop 156 of Mountain Home made a presentation to the Mountain Home Rotary Club earlier this month. Rotarian of the Day Tom Kiley Zane as his guest speaker.

Accompanied by his father, Darren, the Eagle Scout told about his project for Hickory Park – a “mega chess board” — he is building himself. It will be a large painted concrete chess board in the park with oversized chess pieces.

The Rotary board voted to fund Darracq’s project to help improve the park donated to the city 66 years ago by the Mountain Home Rotary Club (1954).

A big Rotary welcome was extended to new member, Amber Henry from Farmers and Merchants Bank, who was sponsored by Past-president Mark Hopper. Karolyn Ziemer, an Arvest Bank loan officer, was a guest of childhood friend Rick Steiner and will be transferring her membership from the Rotary Club of Conway.

There will not be another meeting this month, due to Thanksgiving, and the only meeting in December will be on Dec. 10 because of the Christmas holiday. Guests are always invited to the Thursday noon meeting at Big Creek.
