
KAIT TV in Jonesboro, citing two websites, is reporting Arkansas State head football coach Blake Anderson is a candidate to become head coach at Utah State University.The Aggies are members of the Mountain West Conference. In seven years at Arkansas State, Anderson has recorded 50 victories. He is the first head coach in school history to win at least 47 games during his first six seasons at the school. Additionally, Anderson is just the third head coach at A-State to direct the program to 47 wins in 76 or fewer games.
The Red Wolves are 4-7 this year for Anderson’s first losing season at the school. Anderson had guided the Red Wolves to six straight bowl games before this season. He led the team to Sun Belt championships in 2014 and 2015.
Anderson, a 19-year coaching veteran at the NCAA-FBS level who also coached in an NJCAA-National Championship game, was named head football coach on Dec. 19, 2013. He has been a candidate for other jobs in the past, interviewing for the Missouri vacancy in 2019 and the Baylor opening in 2016.
