Two local boys’ teams were able to wrap up the Mansfield Invitational Basketball Tournament with wins on Saturday. Gainesville took third place with a 63-46 victory over Conway, and Dora pounded Plato 76-51 to capture seventh place.
The Gainesville girls took the consolation title of the Scallywag Showdown at Norwood. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Mountain Grove 43-30.
Viola’s high school teams were able to sweep Shirley in dominating fashion.
The Lady Longhorns invoked the mercy rule, as they routed the Lady Blue Devils 56-18. Lindsey Browning led Viola with 22 points, Sami McCandlis scored 13, and A.J. McCandlis added 12.
The Viola boys destroyed Shirley by a final of 93-45. The Longhorns were led by Luke Worsham with 18 points, Landon Luna had 17, Bryson Luna finished with 14, and Mason Luna chipped in 11 points.
