Governor says high level of coronavirus spread continues

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson says the more than 19,000 COVID-19 tests reported Friday are a record high. Following the Arkansas Department of Health’s (ADH) update Friday, the governor said, “…There continues to be a high level of spread throughout our communities, in both highly-populated areas and more rural areas. We must remain diligent over the weekend and not relax in following the public health guidelines.”

In its daily update, the ADH reported 2,878 new COVID-19 cases; 22,392 active cases; 1,073 hospitalized, which is down 11 from Thursday; 181 on ventilators, which is down seven from Thursday; 27 deaths added, for a total of 3,139; a total of 197,421 cases; and 147,953 recoveries. In addition, 13,816 PCR tests have been administered, along with 5,262 antigen tests.
