Tuesday basketball results include tournament wins for Gainesville, Dora

Two local high school boys’ basketball teams were able to pick up wins in the Cabool Holiday Tournament on Tuesday. Gainesville defeated Mansfield 52-47, and Dora edged out Eminence 48-47.

Both schools also grabbed two more victories in the Mountain Grove Girls Holiday Tournament. Gainesville beat up on Plato 56-34, and Dora topped Mansfield 63-54.

Elsewhere, Flippin’s boys were able to get a win on the road. The Bobcats beat Melbourne by a final of 70-58.

Yellville-Summit had a successful night at home sweeping Bakersfield.
The boys’ game ended with the Panthers beating the Lions 60-47. David Derosier was Yellville-Summit’s top scorer with 21 points, and Ben Cantrall and Cody Sutterfield added 11 each. For Bakersfield, Jake Frieman scored 21 points, and Ethan Cotter chipped in 10.
Yellville-Summit also won the girls’ game over Bakersfield 42-34. Kambree Gibson paced the Lady Panthers with 19 points. Sierra Carter ended up with 10 points for the Lady Lions.

Ozark Mountain was able to get three wins playing four games at Alpena.
The Bears invoked the mercy rule in the senior boys’ game, as they routed the Leopards 69-40. Ozark Mountain was led by Zack Bowlin with 15 points, and Keagan Ricketts came away with 13.
Ozark Mountain also took the senior girls’ contest. The Lady Bears ended up with a 63-49 victory over Alpena.
Ozark Mountain ended up putting the mercy rule in effect in the junior boys’ game. The Junior Bears destroyed Alpena 54-13.
Ozark Mountain’s only loss was in the junior girls’ contest. The Junior Lady Bears fell to Alpena by a score of 40-32.

Viola’s boys captured another win on the road. The Longhorns defeated Brookland 50-31.

The Izard County boys picked up an easy 74-39 win at Mount Vernon-Enola. Noah Everett was the Cougars’ leading scorer with 21 points, Caleb Faulkner had 17, and Coby Everett finished with 14. Izard County improves to 12-3 on the season.

Mammoth Spring’s girls went to Jonesboro and suffered a 48-36 loss to Valley View. Megyn Upton and Chevelle Graves led the Lady Bears with 13 points each. Mammoth Spring will head to Cotter next Tuesday.

The Lead Hill girls grabbed a road win in dominating fashion. The turbo clock was invoked, as the Lady Tigers pounded Shirley 65-27.

Valley Springs’ girls had a successful night in front of the home crowd. The Lady Tigers defeated Bigelow 66-50.
