The investigation continues in the case of a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run accident in December in Douglas County that claimed the life of a Squires woman.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase says in a social media post his department is still seeking information from the community regarding the accident that reportedly occurred between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 19 and 2 a.m. Dec. 20 by an unknown vehicle, which then fled the scene.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 73-year-old Julia Hicks was struck in the roadway on Missouri Route N, nearly 5 miles southeast of Ava. Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the accident, Degase said his department was in the process of reviewing surveillance videos.

In his updated posting, Degase says anyone with any information, no matter how small or irrelevant one may think it is, is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 417-683-1020. He says someone may have cameras that captured video of vehicles on N Highway or may have seen vehicles between those hours in that area.
