An Ozark County man, Christopher S. Davis of Wasola, has been sentenced to five years in the Missouri Department of Correction for his role in aiding the escape of a fellow inmate from the Ozark County jail in 2020.
The Ozark County Times reports Davis pled guilty earlier this month before Circuit Judge Craig Carter to aiding the escape of fellow prisoner Robert Abbott of Koshkonong last August.
Davis’ sentence is to run concurrently with another five-year prison term for violating his probation in a previous case. In that case, Davis originally pleaded guilty in April 2019 to possession of a controlled substance.
At the time of Abbott’s escape, the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office said video footage shows the inmate was aided by fellow prisoner Davis.
Abbott was reportedly found hiding in an outbuilding near a Gainesville resident’s home on County Road 806 about a half hour after he escaped from the nearby Ozark County jail.
Abbott was being held on dozens of felony charges, including several connected to a four-day crime spree in August 2020 when he allegedly stole at least six vehicles and several guns.
