A Paragould man with warrants out for his arrest was picked up Sunday morning in Gassville and is facing additional charges. Thirty-two-year-old Daniel Hoskins is in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
According to the report, a Gassville officer drove through the parking lot of a convenience store just after 10 a.m. and observed a male standing next to a vehicle at a gas pump. The male was reportedly trying to hide his face. The officer ran the license plate and determined through investigation the male was Hoskins. He had an outstanding felony nationwide warrant from the parole board and misdemeanor warrants from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and the Mountain Home Police Department.
The officer approached Hoskins, who was sitting in his vehicle, and he said he was aware of the warrants. As Hoskins was placed under arrest and into the patrol unit, a female passenger was reportedly attempting to distract the officer’s attention away from the vehicle. The officer opened the driver door and located a Glock .40 caliber handgun in the door panel and a black bag in the floorboard. The officer opened the bag and found a large amount of a white crystalline substance. Hoskins reportedly said the bag belonged to him, but the gun didn’t.
Hoskins faces felony counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drugs and firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a felon. He also faces charges on the outstanding warrants.
