A 43-year-old Mountain Home man faces a pair of felony charges, after he allegedly videotaped a former girlfriend and threatened to share the footage.

Darrin R. Bookout was arrested Friday and faces charges of video voyeurism and unlawful use of a communication device, along with a misdemeanor of unlawful distribution of sexual images. He was released on $10,000 bond later that evening.

According to a probable cause affidavit in the case, the Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD) was contacted by Bookout’s ex-girlfriend. The woman told authorities Bookout constantly harasses her via phone calls and texts, and in late December told the woman “he had a sex tape he made of the two of them when they were together, and if she did not come sex with him, he would ruin her life.”

Bookout also allegedly sent screenshots of the alleged tape to the woman’s current boyfriend. The victim told authorities “she had no knowledge of that a video camera had been secretly placed in the room the sex occurred in.” She also provided copies of the screenshots and messages to police.

Authorities contacted Bookout’s probation officer and set up a meeting, in which the man allegedly admitted sending the messages. After obtaining a warrant for the phone, authorities located communications between Bookout and others regarding drug transactions, as well as the communication between the man, his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend, which authorities say corroborates the alleged incident.
