
High school basketball makes up the local Friday schedule, with Mountain Home having its first road trip in 2 1/2 weeks. Conference play continues for the Bombers and Lady Bombers, as they face Van Buren.
Mountain Home’s girls are 3-19 on the season and 2-9 in the 5A-West after suffering a five-point overtime loss to Vilonia. Van Buren is 8-15 and 2-9 after getting routed at Greenwood. The Lady Bombers defeated the Lady Panthers 45-38 on Saturday.
The Mountain Home boys are 7-10 overall and 3-5 in the league coming off a loss to Vilonia. Van Buren topped Greenwood to improve to 11-8 and 5-6. The Bombers topped the Pointers 49-40 six nights ago.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 4:45 at Claire Bates Athletic Arena. The varsity contests begin around 6 and can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Also in the 5A-West, Greenbrier travels to Siloam Springs, Vilonia hosts Greenwood, and Russellville entertains Alma.
Elsewhere on the high school level, Flippin makes the trip to Rogers to take on the Arkansas Arts Academy, Yellville-Summit heads to Eureka Springs, Ozark Mountain plays Rural Special at Western Grove, Gainesville’s boys are home against Mansfield, the Dora boys travels to Norwood, Viola makes the trip to Tuckerman, Mammoth Spring’s boys head to Lynn to meet Hillcrest, and Mountain View travels to Cave City.
Izard County’s junior girls will play their semifinal game in the 1A-2 District Tournament. The Junior Lady Cougars host Concord at 3:30 in the fine arts gym.
Two area boys’ teams will square off in the semifinals of the 1A-1 East Junior District Tournament. Omaha entertains Jasper at 3:30.
