The Briarcliff Waterworks system remains under a boil order, according to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) website.

The order was issued last week as the result of a water main break.

ADH says under the boil notice, impacted customers are advised the water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use.

All ice cubes should be discarded. Only boiled water should be used for making ice.

The notice will be lifted by ADH when two sets of bacteriological samples indicate the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
